I did some work over the holidays for Haribon's column in Manila Times. Haribon is an environmental organization and currently Ang INK has a tie-up with them. My work came out in the December 30, 2008 issue. Some of the birds I drew are endangered species like the Philippine Cockatoo. I did some research and I never knew that the Philippines has so many endemic birds (which is something to be proud of though sadly a lot of them are endangered). Since I live in the city, the only birds I often see are Maya birds, so working on this artwork was pretty interesting and educational for me.
Here is my entry for TSUBIBO!, Ink's 17th annual exhibit held last October 28, 2008 at the Shangrila Mall. The theme was about the circus / carnival, and I wanted to be different so I went with a Chinese-inspired theme. I've seen a few acrobat shows when I lived in China for a year, and they were really amazing! This painting has been sold during the exhibit, so all I can show is this photograph (taken by my cousin while it was still on display).
New layout! I was aiming for a colorful-minimalistic, relaxing yet sorta warm feel, if that makes any sense. I'm quite glad how this came out. Big thanks to God for the inspiration, sir Noel for the web hosting, and everyone I've bugged about the website. Haha. Thanks for visiting! :D
